Blessing of the car

Often items are offered to be blessed. Mostly things that are dear and significant to the life and society of those who offer them. Candles, medals, key chains, statues of saints ...   Cars are an important part in people's lives. They move with it for work and leisure and it is a means to serve together. Traffic is progressively more crowded and unsafe and asking for blessing, we ask God to bless and protect people when they move. The blessing of the car, is therefore first blessing of people and that is certainly useful. In the blessing prayer, we hear a call for responsibility and commitment.

Lord our God, we thank you for this car. We have received him as a gift from your hand and as a result of our work and our commitment.

Praised for the help and the joy that the car will give us to complete our tasks, to visit relatives and friends and to help those in need.

We ask you God, bless this car, and all who drive with it. Help them to be careful, vigilant and patient. That they take responsability for the lives of their fellow men.

Make them graciously for the little ones, for the blind and elderly. May God bless all pilgrims who are on their way.

In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Cars can be driven up near the priest house where the blessing takes place (every day from 10.00 to 12.00 am and from 14.00 until 16.30 pm).
